@familyandcoffee began as my personal Instagram account - a space where I shared coffee shops I visited with my family. At the time, I was in my early 20s, raising both teens and babies through kinship care, foster care, and adoption. What started as snapshots of coffee and everyday life slowly became something bigger. People began to connect not only with the coffee, but with the unconventional way our family was built and the story behind it.
While it is still my personal account, @familyandcoffee has grown into a platform for storytelling, advocacy, and widespread impact. Along the way, I also came into my identity as a queer woman and found belonging in the LGBTQ+ community. Just as foster care and adoption shaped my path, so did claiming my identity in adulthood. Family & Coffee reflects all of these intersections — family, identity, resilience, and advocacy — creating a space where others can see themselves and feel less alone.
Even with that growth, it is important to me that my @familyandcoffee social media presence remains personal. I share my everyday life because I believe others need to see that there is so much more to who we are than foster care or adoption - or any single identity. Our lives are full and vibrant, made up of family, joy, community, healing, and the little moments (often with coffee in hand) that keep us grounded.
Family & Coffee is more than a brand - it’s a community. I share everyday life, advocacy, and story moments across my social platforms. Follow along and join the conversation:
