About Jaymi Lynn, MSW

Jaymi Lynn, MSW (she/her) is a former foster youth, kinship caregiver, foster and adoptive parent, and a passionate advocate for foster care reform. She has shared her personal story of experiencing trauma, abuse, and neglect in the foster care system, and has worked to raise awareness about the need for improved support and resources for foster youth.

Jaymi has spoken publicly about the importance of:

• Improving mental health services for foster youth

• Increasing support for foster youth transitioning to adulthood

• Reducing the overreliance on group homes and institutions

• Promoting family-based care and permanent connections for foster youth

• Improving outcomes for adoptees

• Partnering with faith communities to support the wellbeing of children and families

• Utilizing Motivational Interviewing (MI) within child welfare systems and with youth in care

• Ensuring that LGBTQ+ youth in foster care receive safe, affirming parenting 

She has also advocated for policy changes and has worked with organizations to create positive change in the foster care system.

Jaymi's advocacy work has inspired many and has helped to amplify the voices of foster youth and those with lived experience. 

In addition, she openly shares aspects of her personal life through her social media, @familyandcoffee, to show others that healing and a colorful, vibrant life beyond foster care is possible.
